Please welcome Sarah McGraw, Charlotte pet photographer, to the session spotlight!

Cali, an adorable Pugapoo (Pug/Poodle mix), was a healthy 5-year old lady when we spent a gorgeous Spring evening together for her photo shoot. We did her favorite things – play ball, run, go on a car ride, and we even took a short swim. All was great in Cali’s world!

A couple weeks later – before Cali’s parents even received their order – everything changed. She stopped eating and her parents rushed her to the vet. Just days later, they got the news. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and only has a few months to live. Their hearts were beyond crushed.

During all of the chaos, Cali’s mom managed to send me a message saying the following. “Cali does have cancer, she only has a few months to live. I am so thankful that we got our pictures done when we did. You gave us something that we will cherish the rest of our lives. Thank you for the beautiful memories you photographed.”

I cried.

I’m so glad I got to spend time with Cali before she got sick. This is how I want her to be remembered and I’m so happy that her parents will have these images to look back on. Photographing your 4-legged family members is a way to honor them and it isn’t a decision that should be taken lightly.

Stay strong, Cali!
