  • Greetings!

Thank you for joining me here at The Hair of the Dog, a blog for sharing business and marketing tips specific to the pet photography niche. In order to be successful in a pet photography business, or any photography business, it must be treated first and foremost as a business. I want this resource to help you create a sustainable (ie. profitable) photography business, as well as share some inspiration along the way.

The pet niche of professional photography has exploded in the past few years and shows no signs of slowing down. While there are many blogs dedicated to growing and marketing your portrait business, there are very few resources dedicated to the professional or aspiring professional pet photographer. I am happy to share the resources that I have discovered and I would love to hear from you. If you would like to submit a session to be featured on the Hair of the Dog or if you would like to share a guest post check out the details under the submissions tab!

If you are looking for more personalized help for your business, please check out the mentoring tab above for different in-person and online learning opportunities.

Session Spotlight – Susannah Storch Photography

Please welcome Susannah Storch Photography from Longmont, CO to the session spotlight.

I enjoyed photographing the adorable Rusty for some clients in the their Boulder backyard. Rusty was lucky enough to be rescued from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. His owners, Sarah and Jeremy, were lucky enough to find this perfect pup! In this session, Rusty was just being the playful puppy that he is. He was also practicing some of his new commands, and he got a little sleepy from all the fuss. What a cutie!
