Please welome Samantha, Brisbane Photographer of Paper Heart Photography to the Session Spotlight.
I shot this at the Spit on the Gold Coast last weekend at sunrise. Winston (the beautiful Weimaraner x german short hair pointer) and his owner Zara drove up from Byron Bay for this session to show off her boys love of the ocean in a place they visit frequently. Paper Heart Photography is run by myself and my husband Ben and is focused around providing pet and lifestyle photography that captures the true personalities of pets and their owners. We also work closely with Golden Ark Rescue and Animal Rescue QLD to provide photos of their dogs needing homes. I shot this one on my own while my husband played with our own fur-girls in the ocean! I shot this session on my 5D mark III and with my 85L and sigma 35mm 1.4 (I only shoot primes) and Winston was a challenge and half given his athleticism! Part of the session was done on leash and part off purely because as the morning went on the beach got busier and more dogs wanted to play. Winston is just adored by his “mum” who tells me she moved out of an apartment to take him on (He was a rescue baby!) and his health and her devotion to him just shines through!
I’m a 25 year old photographer and critical care nurse based in Brisbane, Australia. I launched Paper Heart Photography in August last year only a year after picking up my first DSLR. Photography was just one of those things I fell in love with and not a day has gone by where I haven’t taken at least one photo or learnt something new about the world of photography. I started photographing pets after people saw images of my own “fur-kids” and not long after that I got into volunteering for a couple of rescue organisations and I haven’t looked back!
