Your website is often the one of the first contact points that potential clients have with your photography business. Many of my clients come to me through a google search so it is imperative that my website that tell them exactly who I am and WHY they should hire me. It needs to be easy to navigate and also set up in a way that makes it easy for potential clients to not only find the important pages on your site, but also encourage them to contact you…..now, not later when they think about it again.
Even if a client comes to you from the recommendation of a previous client or marketing partner, you need to ensure that your website is in line with the branding of your business. If you market yourself as a high-end boutique business but your website is a blog on a .blogspot.com site then there is going to be a disconnect. If your pictures are fun, modern, and bright and your website is a vintage template there is going to be a disconnect. If your website takes a long time to load or is difficult to navigate then potential clients will be clicking away in droves.
As photographers most of us do not have a background in web design. We also do not have a background in e-commerce or the psychology of why our clients behave as they do when browsing our site. It can be a long hard road to design the website without help and in the process we can lose out in thousands of dollars of revenue through unbooked clients. I wanted to share with you a new resource that is going to knock your socks off.
Today Jenika over at Pyschology For Photographers is launching a new e-book From Portfolio to Profit Engine, How to Build an Absolutely Irresistible Photography Website. It will teach you how to build website that not only markets for you but attracts and converts the clients that you most want to work with.
There are bonus sections from the amazing Sue Bryce revealing her secrets for bringing in clients and also Kristen Kalp of Brand Camp helping you to create juicy web copy.
I encourage EVERYONE to follow the link to check out some of the FREE articles on the Psychology for Photographers blog, regardless of the state of your website. If you haven’t been a reader over there be prepared to spend some serious time reading old articles because they are incredibly pertinent to running a successful photography business.
If improving the functionality of your website is something that you feel your business needs then I know that you will love the Portfolio to Profit Engine e-book. I had the pleasure of attending a webinar that she did this spring on co-marketing with other businesses and it was seriously life-changing. I’ve also had a sneak peek at the book and it is good! She doesn’t put out fluff and this e-book is busting at the seams with important and practical information to make your website a magnet for attracting your target market.
The book launches TODAY, September 5th for the introductory price of $99. It will remain this low price through September 19th and then it will be regularly priced at $149.
